Essential Questions to Ask Before Booking Your Wedding Videographer

1. Are you available for our wedding day?

It seems like a silly question, but an it’s an important one! The sooner you can enquire with your vendors about their availability the better. Wedding videographers can often be booked up to 2 years in advance so if you have a particular person in mind to capture your special day it’s essential to get in touch to avoid disappointment.

2. How do you capture audio?

Audio is easy to forget about, but it can be a super tricky thing to get right. You’ll want to make sure that you can actually hear your vows clearly when you get your video back from your videographer. A professional wedding videographer will always have multiple sources of audio that might include: on-camera microphone, lavalier microphone (attached to person speaker) and recording directly from the PA system provided by the celebrant or venue.

3. How long until we get our wedding video?

Creating amazing videos can take time, but just how much exactly is an important question to say the least. That last thing you want is to be waiting longer than anticipated and have to constantly check in for updates. On average couples can hope to get there videos back within 2-3 months of their wedding date, sooner if lucky. But steer clear of booking a wedding videographer that isn’t up front about their delivery times.

4. How do you work with photographers?

It’s essential that your chosen photographer and videographer are able to work well as a team, even if they have never worked together previously. Whilst capturing great images and video is important, so is enjoying your wedding day with your family and friends. Good videographers are able to work effectively alongside photographers to simultaneously capture video, avoiding the need to repeat anything.

5. How many hours do you cover?

Many videographers choose to charge couples by a strict amount of hours that they are there to capture. If this is the case, make sure your aware of any additional costs that may apply if things run over time on the day. That way you’re not stung with an unexpected bill or stuck with a videographer that’s trying to leave before your first dance.
